Wilhelmina was a daughter of Karl Peter Thomas and Sophie Marie Hahn. Karl Thomas came to America in 1851. At that time he was a widower – his wife Sophie having died prior to 1851 in most probably Germany.
She first appears in the 1860 Goliad County census living with her sister Sophie Kreisle, alongwith her brothers William Thomas and Jacob Thomas.
Wilhelmina, or Minnie, married Robert Seidel, a son of August and Maria Seidel of Goliad County 1860-1864.She was the mother of five documented children: Mary Augusta, Jefferson M., Herman, William M., and James C.
Robert's father, August, purchased what is known as the Seidel Hotel right off the square in downtown Goliad in about 1856. After the death of August(1863), Robert owned the hotel until his death in 1890. Wilhelmina operated the hotel until she sold it in about 1910.
