My dad's mother died at 5 a.m. on January 26th, 1919 at 28 years of age from complications of the world-wide Spanish Flu pandemic. Her death certificate lists "lobular pneumonia". Her death does NOT reflect what the obituary below states as leakage of the heart. While that MAY have been part of complications of the 1918/1919 flu, that was not what is listed on her death certificate.
Goldie was a quiet, even tempered, gentle woman. She had auburn hair and came from Irish/English heritage. She was active in Daughters of American Revolution and served in church.
Grandpa John Wesley Meeks asked Jesus into his heart the night she died, while sitting on the steps of the Baptist Church there in La Plata MO.

Siblings: Nora Belle(Lewis) Sacre (see #67391874)
and Leta M.(Lewis) Albers Short
Son: Eugene Walter Meeks
