Samuel A. Miner departed this life at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 1901, after a brief illness of typhoid fever. The announcement of his death came as a great shock to hi friends among whom his death was not expected.
Samuel A. Miner was born February 8th, 1843, in Colerain, Mass. He enlisted in Co. B, 52nd Mass. Volunteers in September 1862 and served until the expiration of his term of enlistment.
He came to Minnesota in 186 and settled on a farm in Iosco, where he lived up to within a few years ago when he moved to this city where he has since resided. 1n 1869 he was married to Mrs. Mary E. Sheldon, who survives him. He was a charter member of N.B. Barron Post No 93.
The deceased was a man of wide acquaintance, and was honored and respected by all who knew him. He was a devout Christian and a deacon of the Baptist Church of this city.
He leaves besides his wife, several brothers, and two step children, Mr. Arthur Sheldon and Mrs. Silas Grover, both of this city.
The funeral was held Monday from the Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. S.E. Moon and the remains laid to rest in Sakatah Cemetery, followed a long procession of sorrowing relatives and friends. Rev. Moon's 'text was Rev. l4:l3.
