Custodian Working In Bank Lobby Dies

Roy Edwin Hatfield, aged 56, of 510 South West, died at 1:10 a.m. Saturday in the lobby of the Fourth National bank where he was working as a custodian. Fellow workers found him slumped beside a table where customers write.

Dale Fairleigh, deputy coroner, pronounced Mr. Hatfield dead from natural causes. Born Aug. 29, 1891, at Sawyer, Kan., and a retired farmer, he had been a resident of Wichita and vicinity since 1926.

He is survived by his wife, Fairy M., at home; daughters, Mrs. Helen Hatch, 355 Ohio, and Miss Fern Irene Hatfield, at home; sons, Beryl Hatfield, Pratt, Kan., and Bernard Hatfield, 1922 East Morris; sisters, Miss Zula Hatfield, Dallas, Tex., and Mrs. Ruth Hall, Tucson, Ariz.; brother, William Hatfield, Attica, Kan., and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Downing chapel and burial will be in Wichita Park cemetery.
