The funeral for Thea Kallock, 92, of Maddock, formerly of the Oberon-Sheyenne area, will be held Fri. at 2 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Maddock. Interment will be in the Antelope Valley Lutheran Cemetery near Oberon. She died May 12, 1997 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.
Rev. Neil Lindorff will officiate. Vi Jordre will be organist & Marty Zimmann soloist. Pallbearers will be Eric Hvinden, Damon & Korey Kallock, Travis Duncan, Jon Benson & Jeff & Greg Sorenson. Grandsons and great grandsons were the pallbearers.
Thea A. Kallock was born March 3, 1905 near Oberon to Ben & Alice Omtvedt Benson. She attended school near Oberon & was confirmed in the Antelope Valley Lutheran Church. She married Lloyd William Bakken in Sheyenne, ND in 1929. The couple had two children before they divorced. Ellsworth Lloyd Bakken Benson was born in 1929 and Violet Bakken Halvorson Sorenson was born in 1931. She made her home in Oslo, MN, for a number of years while working on Haakon Hjalmer Kallock's farm. On July 10, 1948 she married Hjalmer Kallock in Warren, Minn. They moved to the Oberon-Sheyenne area in 1956. In 1972 they moved to Maddock. He died Dec. 31, 1979.
She was a member of the Antelope Valley Lutheran Church & its ladies aid.
Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Ellsworth & Delores Benson of Sheyenne & Allyn & Sharon Kallock of East Grand Forks, Minn.; a daughter & son-in-law, Violet & Oscar Sorenson of Riverside, CA; 10 grandchildren; & 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents & sisters Gina Benson Anderson Bercier and an un-named baby girl and a foster girl, Ellen Evenson Brown who was raised by the Benson family and was like a sister to Thea.
