Kanabec County Times (Mora, MN), 17 February 1921, page 1: "AGED MAN KILLED BY ANGRY BULL. Andrew Backlund of Grass Lake is Victim of Mad Beast. Andrew Backlund, one of the pioneer residents of Grass Lake township, was killed by a bull last Sunday afternoon. How this accident happened is not known, but it is supposed that Mr. Backlund was knocked down by the animal and trampled upon, being killed almost instantly, as he left the house about 10 minutes before he was found dead in the yard by members of the family. Dr. Rheim was called and upon investigation found that Mr. Backlund had been severely injured about the head and had received many internal injuries. Deceased was a man about 83 years of age and was one of the pioneer residents of Grass Lake."
