JOHN R. ABELL, 73, of 5760 New Cut Road, died Thursday at Southwest Jefferson Community Hospital. He was a native of Lebanon and a retired welder for American Air Filter Co. Survivors include his wife, the former Corine I. Hardesty; two daughters, Sister Mary Carolyn Abell of Nazareth and Margaret A. Johannemann; two sons, Donnie and Nicholas Abell; three sisters, Edith Graham of Largo, FL, Effie Webber and Wanda Wright; and four grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 7333 Southside Drive, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation at Ratterman's, 7330 Southside Drive, will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Mass of the Air.
