Mr. Slye had more than one wife.

On September 1, 1881 he married Elizabeth Ellen "Betsy" Wells in Battle Creek, Ida County, Iowa. They had 10 kids. She died in 1899 in Fort Worth, Texas of appendicitis. Edwin put the kids in an orphanage.

He moves to Denver. He is listed in the Denver City Directories from 1901 thru 1910 always working as a barber.

On August 22, 1901 he marries Emma Cipera in Denver, Colorado. She is in the 1900 Census for Denver listed as single, occupation is servant and born in Iowa. Edwin Slye and wife Emma took in 2 children of Genevieve Cipera Ferguson (sister in law to Edwin) after she died in 1904. Then Emma died in February 1910. The 1910 US Census done in April 1910 states that Genevieve's 2 children were living with Edwin Slye in Denver. In an October 28, 1905 Cedar Rapids, Iowa Gazette "Mrs E. A. Slye and little boy are visiting Mrs. Mary Vlach". (Mrs Vlach's sister is Emma Cipera.) Emma dies in February 1910 in Denver.

Edwin begins appearing in the 1912 Los Angeles, CA City Directory (as a barber) thru the 1917 Los Angeles, CA City Directory.

On May 8, 1911 he marries Melinda Catharine Good (divorcee) in Los Angeles, CA.

In the 1920 census she is listed as a widow and occupation is a seamstress.

In the 1917 Los Angeles City Directory he is living with Mrs. Edna A. Slye (a dressmaker) on Crocker.

He dies April 23, 1919.
