HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Averine Holmes, 73, of Route 1 Eva will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Eva United Methodists Church with the Rev. Joe Sears officiating.
Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5:30 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.
Mrs. Holmes died Tuesday at her home. She was born September 1, 1921, in Morgan County to George Cleveland Childers and Bessie Lee Bates Childers. She was a member of Eva United Methodist Church and was active in United Methodists Women. She was retired from working in the lunchroom at Eva school.
She is survived by two sons Charles Holmes and Joel Holmes, both of Eva; two daughters, Jean Grimes of Sharpsburg, Georgia and Teresa Hudson of Decatur; two brothers, Cleburn Childers of Birmingham and G.C. Childers Jr. of Eva; six sisters, Demaris Fortenberry, Ann Boyd, Barbara Frost and Gayle Frost, all of Falkville, Mildred White of Birmingham and Jimmie Lou Gable of Cullman; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
