Technical Sergeant Coburn was a radar operator aboard U.S. Army Air Corps B-29-30-BW Superfortress #42-24504 "Gunga Din." The bomber crashed approximately one minute after take off from Cheng-tu, China. All crewmembers were KIA and 42-24504 was a total loss. Takeoff was at night so to arrive over Omura in the early hours of daylight. With the 468th Bomb Group, 792nd Bomb Squadron.
He died fighting for his country and against the spread of Nazism. MAY HE REST IN PEACE.
