Mr. Buer came to the United States with his parents when he was a small boy and settled in Ohio. He came to Texas in 1876 and took charge of the eating houses on the Southern Pacific Railroad. He had charge of the first dining car that was run on the Santa Fe Railroad north of Milano, and later conducted the eating houses of that road. It was said he had charge of all the railroad eating houses on the Southern Pacific and Santa Fe lines in Texas. He retired from business about 1895. He was survived by his wife and four children.
