The oldest son of J. C. McQuiddy to survive to adulthood, Leon B. McQuiddy was cast in the role of an urban printer when his real love was farming. The sudden passing of his father left him in control of the McQuiddy Printing and the Gospel Advocate companies. A veteran of World War I, those memories seemed to haunt him. He appointed three editors: Foy E. Wallace, Jr. (1930), John T. Hinds (1934), and B. C. Goodpasture (1939). Leon McQuiddy was a good businessman and soon recognized that Goodpasture had similar business skills. Near the end of his life, he left the business affairs of the Gospel Advocate in the hands of Goodpasture. He is buried in Mount Olivet cemetery in Nashville. [Gospel Advocate, June 2005].
