He was born Oct. 25, 1935, in Chicago, the son of Charles E. and Josephine (Sykora) Kallal. On Nov. 7, 1959, he married Carol Daehn in Marengo.
He attended public schools in Chicago and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church Marengo and for several years, served as an usher and a member of the hospitality committee. He had a beloved pal, Whopper, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; a son, Charles E. Kallal III; a daughter-in-law, Caryn Blanton; his grandsons, Kip and Finn; his brothers, Richard (Barb) Kallal and Robert Kallal; his sisters, June Meyer, Pat Trotz and Mary Lou Fischer; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services and internment will be private.
A gathering of family and friends to honor his life will be at noon Saturday, May 12, at Joe's Place, 19716 E. Grant Highway, Marengo, after a private graveside service in Riley Cemetery.
