LaVon M. (Myers) DeLay
LaVon M. (Myers) DeLay, 96, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Beech Grove and a former resident of Indianapolis.
She was born Nov. 1, 1904, in Indianapolis. Her parents were Austin H. and Inez V. (Yazell) Myers. She married Thomas H. DeLay on Jan. 28, 1925, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death Aug. 18, 1959. Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy M. Huck of Greenwood, Vivian L. Dowling of Monrovia and Emily E. Lester of Beech Grove; a son, Thomas A. DeLay of Indianapolis; a sister, Clarabelle Cook of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Austin A. Myers of Belleview, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of Beech Grove.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Indianapolis. Friends may call from noon until service time today at the mortuary. Burial will be at Acton Cemetery.
