Funeral services for the Rev Albert Dewey Dingus, 85, were held September 28 at the Berdine Freewill Baptist Church with the rev john Depriest Officiating. Rev Dingus, pastor of the Burdine Church for more than 25 years died September 26 at the Whitesburg hospital.
He was a veteran of world war I and in 1937 was instrumental in organizing the Letcher County Conference of Freewill Baptists. Born in Dante, Va, he was the son of the late Patrick Dingus and Myra Hensley Dingus. he was the widower of Lora Lee Dingus.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Dingus Dayton, Ohio and Bobby R Dingus, Jenkins, two daughters, Mae Wright, Burdine and Joyce Collins Jenkins and a brother Grover Dingus, Ocala, Fla. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 22 great grand children.
Burial was in Baker Cemetery, Jenkins. Polly and Craft Funeral Home Jenkins had charge of arrangements.
