Her father had been previously married to Julia Ann Waddle
and that couple had 10 children. That family lived in Indiana. Birdie's mother Annie Laura Mayfield had been previously married to Thomas Alexander Fitzgerald and Birdie had 4 half siblings, David Ellis Fitzgerald, Lucinda, Annie Lauie and Ada Kate Fitzgerald. Birdie and Fin, Jr. were very close to the Fitzgerald siblings.
Birdie married John A. Owens 2 Aug 1933 in Laurel, Jones County, MS and they had two children John Kent and Nita Jean Owens. Birdie and John divorced and she married George J. Carr 22 Nov. 1941. They had three children, Barbara Ann, George Keith and Michael Eastman (Mike) Carr.
Birdie organized and instituted a Day Care Center at her Church, Trinity Methodist Church Daycare. She operated and managed this successful endeavor for 26 years. Her "kids" all loved her and paid her visits through out the years.
Birdie had a passion for flowers and took great pride and pleasure in her yard and flower gardens. They were especially pretty in the Spring.
