Noah was the son of Noah and Elizabeth (Chick) Emery of Kittery, ME. He married Joanna Perryman, daughter of Nicholas Perryman, in Exeter on March 20, 1745 when she was only 14 years old. They had five sons and four daughters. Noah was a lawyer in Exeter, a member of the provincial Congress from Exeter, member and clerk of the House of Representatives (1776-77). In 1777 he was appointed Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas and held that position until his death.
