JOSHUA, Texas -- Funeral for Preston Tahchawwickah, 65, Joshua, Texas, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Comanche Nation Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nick Tahchawwickah, the Rev. Wilfred Niedo and the Rev. Phil Goombi officiating.

Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel.

Mr. Tahchawwickah died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Burial will be at Post Oak Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 24, 1939, to Allen and Sarah Burgess Tahchawwickah. He was raised by his grandmother, Napher. He attended Post Oak Mission School until 1954 and graduated from Indiahoma High School in 1958. He retired from Jones Trucklines and was a former Lawton police officer. He attended powwows and served as master of ceremonies. He was a fancy dancer and a gourd dancer. He was a member of the Comanche Nation and a descendant of Chief Wildhorse.

Survivors include four children: Rodney, Lance and Dawn Tahchawwickah and Donna Stepp; three sisters: Carol Jean Hall, Vernice Williams and Bobbie Tahchawwickah Lewis; a brother, Victor Tahchawwickah; and four grandchildren: Vince and Jolene Tahchawwickah and Marissa and Destiny Stepp.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother, Napher; a sister, Ermina Docky Burgess; two brothers: Virgil and Patrick Tahchawwickah; and a daughter, Kimberly Tahchawwickah Stepp.
