Benjamin Franklin Powell, 76, of Arcadia, died there Friday. He was a contractor and builder. Born in Austin, Texas, he has lived in Arcadia most of the time since 1921. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lilla S. Powell; four dauhters, Mrs. Melvin C. Keen, Sr., Clewiston, Mrs. Cecil Collins, Sebring, Mrs. Earl Carlton, Lakeland and Mrs. Duane Trump, Arcadia; two sons, Edward Minor Powell, Sarasota and Glenn Powell, Tampa; a brother, S. L. Powell and a sister, Mrs. O. C. Combs, both of Bradenton, 14 grandchildren and three great-granchildren.
Funeral services were held in Arcadia Sunday afternoon and interment was in the Arcadia cemetery with Roberts Funeral Home in charge. (Hendry County News, 9/16/55)
