Mildred F. DeHaven of Dallas died Dec. 28, 2002. She was 86. She was born on Oct. 6, 1916 in Silverton to Willis and Lillian Jones Hubbs. She grew up in Silverton and attended Mt. Angel College in Mt. Angel. She married Wendell DeHaven on July 2, 1943. She later returned to college and graduated from Oregon College of Education (now WOU) in 1959. She taught school in Falls City, Aumsville and Ballston. She enjoyed watercolor painting and reading. In later years she traveled extensively including trips to the east coast and cruises to Alaska, the Panama Canal, the Straights of Magellan and a Scandinavian Cruise. For many years she was the organist for the Dallas United Methodist Church and the Dallas First Presbyterian Church where she was a member. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wendell and sisters, Marjorie Taylor and Marion Morse.
