Arthur M. Payne No service will be held at this time for Arthur M. Payne, a retired wheat farmer and cattle rancher who died Wednesday at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d' Alene. He was 83. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d' Alene is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime area resident, he was born in Waterville, and moved to Edwall, as a young man. He owned and operated a wheat farm there until moving to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, to farm in 1948. He married Irene Nemeth in 1952 and they came to Spokane in 1953 and owned and operated Nestor's Motel on East Sprague. Mr. Payne and his wife bought a cattle ranch at Cusick, in 1957 and operated it until retiring in 1967.

After retiring, they lived in Spokane and in Post Falls until settling at Bayview, in 1983. Mr. Payne was a member of the Kalispel Grange in Cusick. Survivors include his wife, Irene, at the Bayview home; one son, Joseph Payne of Winchendon, two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
