COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Edith Eudene Netherton, 77, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, and from noon until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Netherton died Thursday, March 18, 2010, in Life Care Center of Sparta.
She was born March 20, 1932, in Overton County to the late William Clarence and Mary Lily Mae Williams Moody. Mrs. Netherton was a lifelong member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and attended Cookeville First Baptist Church, where she was a member of Greg Steeves' Sunday School Class. She was a retired associate of Red Kap.
Her family includes her husband of 59 years, Dawson Netherton of Cookeville (whom she married May 27, 1950); a son and daughter-in-law, David and Carol Netherton of Cookeville; four grandchildren, Michael and wife Sarah Netherton, Staci and husband Craig Eggleton and Michael and Marianne Borden; six great-grandchildren, Alexis and Cole Eggleton, David, Lydia, Susanna and Abigail Netherton; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Earl and Pauline Moody of Troy, Ohio, Herman Moody, Joe and Agnes Moody and Donald and Barbara Moody, all of Livingston, and Ernest Moody of Cookeville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Dianne Netherton; a sister, Geraldine Davidson; two brothers, Glenn and Doyle Moody; and a daughter-in-law, Brenda Netherton. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the Mustard Seed Ranch, 4955 Kuykendall Rd., Cookeville, TN 38501.
