Mrs. Mattie Alice Wall died just before 12 p.m. Thursday, February 12, in High Plains Baptist Hospital, Amarillo, where she was a patient for a week. She had been in failing health several months.

She was a member of one of the pioneer Donley County families, her grandparents having lived in the Hedley area long before the turn of the century.

Mrs. Wall was born near Hedley November 20, 1897, the daughter of Shade and Mattie Shelton Killian. She was married to Leonard A. Wall November 12, 1919 in Donley County.

They farmed in the Hedley area and in Collingsworth County for a number of years, then moved to Hereford. She and Mr. Wall returned to Wellington 18 years ago. He died in 1963.

Active in community life wherever she lived, Mrs. Wall was a member of First Baptist Church, the Builders Sunday School Class, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Senior Citizens.

Surviving Mrs. Wall are three daughters, Mrs. Glennie Peters, Mrs. Freda Moody and Mrs. Melba Hinson, all of Wellington; three sons, Arnold Wall of Logan, NM, Billy Wall of Hereford and Joe Wall of Dimmitt; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
