PLAINVIEW, May 30 (Spl) - Funeral services for Mrs. Artie Lee Lewis, 84, who died Sunday afternoon in a Plainview hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church chapel here. Burial will be at Memphis, Texas.

Mrs. Lewis was the widow of S.E. Lewis, pioneer ginner at Memphis and Hedley.

She was bornin [sic] Alabama and lived at Memphis for 38 years before coming to Plainview in 1940.

Survivors include four daughters, Mmes. R.L. Thornton, Emmett White and W.E. Gammage, all of Plainview, and George Blankenship of Goodnight; two sons, Byron T. Lewis of Stamford and J.W. Lewis of Sacramento, Cal.; a sister, Mrs. W.M. Mask of Levelland; 30 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Rites Slated Tuesday For Mrs. A.L. Lewis

PLAINVIEW (Special) - Funeral services for Mrs. Artie Lee Lewis, 84, of Plainview will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church chapel here.

Burial will be at Memphis. Lemons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The body will be at the Emmett White residence, 1305 Quincy St., until time for services.

The Rev. Harlan Harris, pastor of the First Baptist Church, and Dr. G.K. Rogers, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, both of Plainview, will officiate.

Mrs. Lewis died at 2:08 p.m. Sunday in the Plainview Hospital and Clinic. She became seriously ill last Friday.

She was the widow of the late S.E. Lewis, pioneer ginner of Memphis and Hedley. He died in 1935.

Mrs. Lewis was born Jan. 15, 1871, at Selma, Ala. She came to Texas many years ago. She resided at Memphis 38 years before moving to Plainview in 1940. Since that time, she has made her home here with two daughters, Mrs. R.L. Thornton and Mrs. Emmett, and with a son, Byron Lewis of Stamford.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. George Blankenship of Goodnight and Mrs. W.E. Gammage of Plainview; a son, J.W. Lewis, Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. W.M. Mask, Levelland; 30 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
