Ignacio Villarreal's parents were Ignacio Villarreal Sr. (born on July 31, 1876 in Camargo, Camargo Municipality, Tamaulipas, Mexico and died on Nov. 7, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, USA) and Bernarda Jimenez (born on Aug . 20, 1878 in Mexico and died on April 16, 1923 in Hays County, Texas) It is believed that Ignacio Villarreal Sr.'s family came from Spain (the second r in Villarreal was dropped to Villareal.) lgnacio Sr. Is the son of Santos Villareal and Lupe Chapa, per his death certificate. All of this is still being researched. Bernarda's family came from Mexico.

Ignacio married his 2nd wife, Berti Bell Boyd on April 16. 1948. Berti is buried alongside Ignacio at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
