Carrie Turpen, 102, a lifetime North Platte resident, died Feb. 28, 2005, at Linden Court. She was born Aug. 2, 1902, in a sod house in North Lincoln County to Casper and Alice Hillman Sivits. She attended a one-room school through eighth grade. On Oct. 30, 1921, she married Clarence R. Turpen in North Platte. Survivors include daughter Evelyn of North Platte; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence; daughters Helen DuTemple and Twilla Brott; son Gerald; sisters Mary and Ruth; brothers Lester and George Sivits; two half-sisters; two half-brothers; and two infant brothers. Services will be March 4 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at the North Platte Cemetery.
