Arthur Peter Montoya, 83, was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Denver, Colo., and had lived in Cheyenne most of his life.

Art served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1944 until 1946.

He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1984.

Mr. Montoya is survived by his best friend, Barbara Jones of Cheyenne; a daughter, Barbara Jalonen of Atlantic, Iowa; two sons, Dave Montoya of Cheyenne and Michael Montoya of St. George, Utah; a sister, Lorraine Ditzler of Cheyenne; four grandchildren, Michelle Bryson of Coppell, Texas, Ryan Montoya of Cheyenne, Christopher Montoya of St. George, and Andi McClanahan of St. George and a great-grandson, Jashia of St. George.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Montoya; his parents, Louis and Guadalupe "Mary" Montoya; a brother, Louis Montoya and a sister, Margie Eno.

He was a loving father and grandfather that spent his time visiting and enjoying his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
