She is actually buried at the Basilica of St Peter in Columbia, South Carolina. She became an Ursuline nun taking the name of Sister Francis Borglane Meslaus and died 30 Jan 1872. Her will, written in 1870 specifies her profession. The WPA documented the inscriptions of the nuns' graves in 1936. Hers reads: "Here lies Adeline E Brisbane in Religion Sister Francis Borglane Meslaus who died Jan 30 1872 aged 61 years. Requiescat in Pace"
