Daughter of Charles Arthur Sprinkle and Katie Abell. She was born as Francis O. Sprinkle and according to her birth certificate in Dubois County, Indiana, she was the sixth child born and the fifth to live. Her mother was 40 years old and her father was 36 when she was born. Her mother was married three times and according to the 1910 census, there had been 6 children born with three living.

In 1930 the family was living in McLeansboro, Hamilton County, Illinois since before 1920. Olis' father died in Illinois in 1936.
In 1940 the family is found living in Dubois County Indiana as Katie Kellems, Delbert Kellems and Alis Kellems. Katie was 59, Delbert was 26 and Olis was 18.

Married to Delbert Jonathan Ball, about 1938; place unknown. On July 21, 1960 it was published in the Dubois County Herald that a surprise anniversary party was held for their 22nd marriage anniversary at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Andry and daughter Caroline. Others present were Katie Kellems, JoAnn Ball, Mrs. Emma Ingle. After the party, they all attended the Dubois County Fair.

No children were born to the marriage with Delbert.

Married to John Edward Steffen on March 2, 1968 in Birdseye, Dubois County, Indiana. Olis Ball to John Edward Steffen. They were divorced.
In June 1968 Olis Ball Steffen and husband, and Katie Kellems sold 1.743 acres of land to Gene A. Wyman and wife in Dubois County, Indiana.
In March 1972 Olis Ball Steffen sold 8.2 acres of land to Doyle L. Zehr and wife in Dubois County, Indiana.

By 1981 Olis may have filed for divorced from John Steffen. Published in the Dubois County Herald on 30 September 1981: Not responsible for any debts other than my own. Olis Steffen, R 1, Birdseye - and at the same time it was mentioned elsewhere that Olis was active with other activities.


Died at Welborn Hospital in Evansville.
