Pleasant Higgins enlisted at the age of 25 as a Private on May 3,1862 in Captain Aras B. Cox's Partisan Rangers N.C. Volunteers* for 3 years service. Listed as admitted on February 6,1863 to C.S.A. General Hospital #4 at Wilmington N.C. and released February 12,1863. On Mar/Apr 1863 roll it states he has been discharged as he has supplied a substitute on April 6,1863.
*This company was successfully designated as Captain Cox's Company, Partisan Rangers N.C. Volunteers, Company "G" 59th North Carolina Infantry (State Troops) and Company "I" 61st N.C. Infantry (State Troops).
