Ara died 25 June 1922 in Bessemer, Jefferson County, AL. He married Lucinda Fitzgerald
21 January 1925 in Bessemer. They had 4 children. Jack and Lucinda owned and operated
a neighborhood grocery store. They moved from Bessemer to Laurel, Miss and operated a neighborhood store there. Jack was a skilled fiddle player and loved to dance a jig.

Services and burial for L. J. Long, a former Bessemer resident, who died Monday night, were held today in Laurel, Miss.
Mr. Long had made his home in Laurel for the past 10 years.
Reared in the Indian Territory of Oklahoma, Mr. Long moved to Bessemer in 1887 and made his home there until he retired in 1944. For 50 years he was a retail merchant in Bessemer and at one time served as a member of Bessemer's Board of Alderman.
Surviving are his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Alice Thomas, Mrs. Audrey Patterson and Mrs. Erma Dean, all of Bessemer; Miss Patricia Long, New Orleans, and Miss Laura Lou Long, Biloxi, and a son, Jim Long, New Orleans.

Louvenia Jackson Long, age 88, of Laurel, Miss., formerly of Bessemer, passed away Mon. p.m. in Laurel, Miss. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucinda Long; five daughters, Mrs. Alice Thomas, Mrs. R. I. Patterson, Mrs. Melvin Dean, all of Bessemer, Miss Patricia Long and Laura Lou Long,, Laurel, Miss.; 1 son, Jim Long of New Orleans, La.; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Memory Chapel, Laurel, Miss. At 2 p.m. Wednesday.
