She was the daughter of Herbert R Woods and Ruth S Carkin. She was the wife of William Barnard Holden. They wed on December 28, 1923 in Groton MA
Ruth spent her early life in Groton MA, but had been a resident of Shirley MA for 74 years at the time of her death. A published writer and poet, Ruth authored "The Peg Book", "Before Nightfall" and other writings. She was also employed by the Groton School, and had volunteered at the Red Cross at Fort Devens during World War II. At one time Ruth had been an antique dealer along with her husband. She was also a member of the Alturian Club of Shirley.
