Paul R. Baker, 88, of Flat Lick, was born on October 19, 1921 in Hazard, Kentucky. He was a son of the late Ebb Baker and Margaret Liford Baker. Mr. Baker died on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 in the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio.

Mr. Baker retired from General Motors; a Member of the Concord Baptist Church; a Charter Member of the Flat Lick Volunteer Fire Department; a Veteran serving his Country in the United States Army in WWII. He joined the Army in 1940, a member of the 4th Infantry Division, he landed on the historic Utah Beach Invasion at Normandy on D-DAY, he fought in the Hurtgen Forest, and the Battle of the Bulge, a member of the troops that freed Paris at Aisace-Loraine in the Rhineland, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

On July 3, 1941, he united in marriage to Betty Carnes, and to this union two sons: Ronnie and Dennis were born.

Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his Brother: Clay F. Baker.

Mr. Baker is survived by his loving Wife of over 68 years: Betty (Carnes) Baker of Flat Lick. His two Sons: Ronnie Baker and Wife, Marsha of West Chester, Ohio, and Dennis Baker and Wife, Mary Ann of Miami Heights, Ohio.
His three Grandchildren: Brian Baker and Wife, Beth, Garrett Paul Baker Esq., and Jennifer Lyn Baker. His Great Grandson Son: Alex Baker. Two Special Cousins: Serretta Jackson and Paul Baker Esq., and many other Relatives and dear Freinds to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services for Paul R. Baker will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 30, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick with full Military Honors.

The Baker Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday evening at the Hopper Funeral Home.
