Clara Nell Allen, 69, of Paris went home to the Lord Tuesday March 16, 2010, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 19, in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Kersey officiating. Interment follows in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The daughter of the late Tom and Audie Robbins Vandever, Clara Nell was born March 18, 1940, in Paris. She was a graduate of Paris High School. She married Jerry Allen Sept. 3, 1960, in Paris.

She loved baking and candy making, and enjoyed dollhouses. Clara Nell was a devoted homemaker and had been employed by Vasserette and Campbell Soup Co. She was a Girl Scout leader and an active member of the PTA. Her kindness, mischievious spirit, sense of humor, and stories endeared her to loved ones and strangers near and far. Her memory will live on with all those who laughed with her, listened to her stories, and were touched by her friendliness.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Renee Allen; a twin sister, Nora Dell Vandever; a sister and brother-in-law, Robbie Faye and William "Buddy" Mullins; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Mary Vandever; a brother, Mearl Vandever; a sister and brother-in-law, Ovie And Monroe Duff; and a brother-in-law, Hershel McDaniel.

Clara is survived by her husband of forty-nine and a half years, Jerry; a son, Brad Allen, of Paris; a daughter, Dana Allen, of Union City, Calif.; four grandchildren, Paige Allen and Chase Allen, of Powderly and Reagan Allen and Noah Allen, of Brownsboro; a sister, Leoma McDaniel, of Holliday; a brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Sharon Vandever of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Felix Vandever of Balch Springs; a sister-in-law, Betty Vandever of Paris; an aunt, Tommie Ruth Robbins of Monrovia, Calif; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Avon Allen of Garland; 29 nieces and nephews; numerous cousins, great nieces, and great nephews, and countless friends.

Named to serve as pallbearers are Barry Allen, Carrell Crouch, Jeff Goodson, Clay Sikes, Clay Steudeman and Jarred Thurman.
