Robert S Patton was the son of James H Patton, Sr (1795-1843) and Elizabeth Conner (1799-1831).

Arriving in Texas in December 1834, Robert S Patton, received a land grant and was among Houston County's earliest settlers. He married Louisa J Conner in 1838.

They were the parents of thirteen children, six of whom died in infancy and are buried in this family graveyard.

Robert & Louisa Patton's family Slave is also buried here.

In the 1850 Houston County Census, Robert was listed as having 1107 acres of land and uncompleted titles to other lands, one of 3867 acres and another of 7165 acres. His homestead of 1107 acres was in eastern Houston County in the Tadmor Community. He was a slave owner before the Civil War.

Several landmarks still carry his name, including Patton Lane a part of FM 227 near Hicory Creek, and the Robert S Patton family Cemetery nearby.
