Clyde E. Stewart, a long time Deming resident, passed away on March 13, 2010 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Clyde was born in Topeka, Kansas to Elwood and Florence Stewart on April 25, 1938. He and his family moved to Deming in 1949. After graduation from Deming High School in 1956, Clyde enlisted and served in the US Navy for 4years. Upon returning from the Navy, Clyde joined his mother in running a small grocery and hamburger shop at the corner of Spruce and Pearl Street. In 1961 he married Carole Pentland. Carole and Clyde had three children, Pat, Judi, and Christi. In 1990 he married Ida Jo Paulk and accumulated four step-sons, Bill, Cliff, Richard, and Ronnie. Clyde graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in accounting later in life he enjoyed working with cattle. Clyde is survived by his wife, Ida Jo Stewart of the home; one son, J. Patrick Stewart of Morenci. AZ.; four steps-sons, Bill Paulk of Bakersfield, CA., Clifford Paulk of Deming, NM., Richard Paulk of La Luz, NM., Ronald Paulk of Deming, NM..; two daughters, Judith Palmer and Christine Ruebush both of El Paso, TX.; one sister, Myrtle Beem of Lee's Summit, MO.; five grandchildren, Candice Brower, Zack Brower; Rachel Brower; Summer Stewart, and Christopher Stewart; ten step-grandchildren; thirteen step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mildred Murdock Crocker, Mary Stewart Martin; one grandson, Patrick Stewart; one niece, Cindy Martin. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 4-7pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels-Father Stanley Chapel. The funeral service will at 10am on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at The First United Methodist Church with Pastor Keath Baskett officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Jed Paulk, Gene Paulk, Jake Paulk, John Palmer, Patrick Stewart, and Zachary Brower. Honorary pallbearers are Tim O'Neill and the rest of the friends he enjoyed drinking coffee with throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Epilepsy Foundation-8301 Professional Place, Landover, MD 20785. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels.
