Winnivere Helen "Winnie" (Schoonover) Bennett, 90, formerly of Farmington, IL passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 1:30 am at Heartland Health Care, Canton, IL. She was born December 10, 1919 in Hickards, MO the daughter of Eddy and Annie (Faler) Schoonover. She married George Kenneth "Bootjack" Bennett on September 7, 1940 in Kahoka, MO. He died August 16, 2006. Surviving are two sons; George Kenneth (Bobbie) Bennett of Naples, Florida and John Edward (Lori) Bennett of Edwards; five grandchildren; Tim (DeAnn) Bennett of Bloomington, Tom Bennett of Peoria, Jeff Saltzman of Naples, FL, Scott Saltzman of Chicago, and Paul (Katie) Bennett of East Peoria; her granddog; Emmy of Edwards; and four great grandchildren; Alex, Austin, and Meghan Bennett and Brody Saltzman. She was also preceded in death by three sisters; Rachel Meyers, Wanda Cathcart, and Lila Wahfeldt; five brothers; Art, Albert, Howard, Paul, and Orville Schoonover; and one grandchild, Catherine Elizabeth Bennett. Winnie worked as a homemaker and was a devoted wife to her beloved husband. She enjoyed gardening, square dancing, and was an avid letter writer. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite moments were watching her grandsons' hockey, basketball, football, and baseball games. She will be remembered for her kindness and love to her family, friends, and neighbors. Winnie is eternally at her beloved husband's side. She was a faithful member of the Farmington United Methodist Church; a lifetime member of the Eastern Stars and the Farmington Sportsman's Club. We wish to thank Heartland Healthcare Center of Canton for the loving care they have given Winnie the past four years. Services will be at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Farmington Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 2:00 PM with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Jarrett Wells will officiate.
