William Haywood Hunt was born to late Martha Hunt in the 1800s. He left his roots in Henderson, North Carolina to marry my great grandmother, Hattie Mae Hunt. He was not able to go back to his original roots because my great grandmother was black and his parents were white. Therefore, they gave him money and set him up in a house in Gilmerton where he and my great grandmother settled. They had four children, Johnny Hunt, Roosevelt Hunt and Rosalie Hunt and my grandmother, Willie T. Hunt. When his wife, Hattie suddenly passed away at age 59 due to diabetes and cancer, my grandmother took care of him until he passed away at the age of 92. To cherish his memories, he leaves his four children named above, daughter-in-laws, son-in-laws, grandchildren, neices, and nephews and one brother that I know of named Walter Hunt.

Thanks so much, DERRIC DEON for sponsoring my brave great grandfather's memorial. This means a lot to our family as he endured much pain separating from his roots.

Thanks to MIKE DIAZ for finding my great grandfather's headstone. This means so much to our family.
