ALLENSVILLE - Mahlon C. Zook, 78, of 82 Water St., Allensville, died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002, at his home. Born Feb. 4, 1924, in Belleville, he was a son of the late Jacob S. and Fannie R. (Yoder) Zook. His wife, Jane (Wyland) Zook, survives. Also surviving are: children, Charles M. Zook, Reedsville and Dale K. Zook, Allensville; sisters and brothers, Mrs. Samuel (Mary) King, Belleville, David Zook, Sweet Home, OR, Mrs. Amos (Leah) Stoltzfus, Honey Brook and Andrew Zook, Bordman, OR; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Zook and Levi Zook. A maintenance welder, he retired in 1985 from Sperry New Holland. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, 66th Division of the Black Panthers, and was a member of the Stroup-Alexander VFW Post 5935. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of Watts Memorial United Methodist Church, Belleville and attended Allensville Presbyterian Church. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville, with the Rev. Geoffrey Huish officiating. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville. Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
