Second child of three children of James Fred "Buddy" Alsup, and Victoria Era Hart Alsup. The siblings birth order was (1) Tycus Fred Alsup, Sr. 1929, (2) James Herbert "Jim" Alsup 1931, and (3) Joseph "Joe" Albert Alsup 1933. Profession geologist.

James Herbert Alsup of Haughton, Louisiana passed away peacefully on May 19, 2010. His colorful journey began on August 10, 1931 in Vivian, Louisiana. He lives in the hearts of his two daughters, Era Norris of Austin and Irby Liu and husband Edward of Longview, brothers Fred Alsup of Clinton, Louisiana and Joe Alsup of Akin, South Carolina, grandchildren and numerous friends. At the family gravesite service he will be rejoined with his wife Dorothy Alsup.

Flowers are beautiful, as was his life, but the family requests that donations be sent to Heart's Way Hospice, 1306 Pine Tree road, Longview, Texas 75604.
