Mr. Dan Gerald Puckette, age 74, of Tucker, Ga. died, Friday, May 8, 2009 following a brief illness.

A native of Flowery Branch, Ga. Mr. Puckette was a Vietnam War veteran. He was awarded the Badge of Honor, for his U.S. Army service in Taiwan. Upon discharge, Mr. Puckette was employed by General Motors for 35 years and retired as a General Supervisor.

He served two terms as Mayor of Flowery Branch in the 1970's and is a lifetime member of the Municipal Association. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Flowery Branch, Masonic Lodge 292 F&AM, and Buford Chapter 317 Order of the Eastern Star. He is a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Shriner of the Yaarab Temple, Past President of the Tucker Shrine Club and Past Monarch of Korassan Grotto, all in Atlanta, Ga. He is a member of the Woodsmen of the World and the American Legion Post 233 and Voiture 499, both of Loganville, Ga.

Mr. Puckette was survived by his loving wife of 19 years Irene Puckette of Tucker, daughter, Barbara P. Bostwick and husband Greg of Flowery Branch, son, Bryan G. Puckette of Flowery Branch, daughter, Susan C. Puckette of Statham, Ga., son, David B. Puckette and wife DeAnne of Hoschton, Ga., daughter, Kelly P. Anderson and husband Frank of Flowery Branch, step-daughter, Debbie S. Stros of Woodstock, Ga., and former wife, Carolyn W. Puckette, grandchildren, Joey Bostwick, Jay Bostwick, Justin Bostwick, Ashley Puckette, Forrest Puckette, Chloe Puckette, Sydney Puckette, Dawson Puckette, Cal Stros, Barry Stros, sister-in-law, Julia Puckette, son-in-law Edwin Pruitt, four nephews and a host of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2:00 P.M. May 13, 2009 at Memorial Park South Chapel, Officiating Rev. Paul Wade, Rev. Chuck Nation and Col. Larry Huff, United States Air Force (Ret). Interment Flowery Branch City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Loganville Voiture 499, 40 Plus 8 Program, P.O.
