He was born Nov. 8, 1918, in Bertrand, the son of Melvin H. Forrest Sr. and Burnice Hinkle Forrest. He and Edith Britt were married Jan. 19, 1946.
He had worked for the city of St. Louis, retiring in 1982. He attended the Charleston Church of the Nazarene. He service in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Melvin Forrest; three daughters, Wanda Brown, Deloris Cox and Carolyn Findley; a sister, Ruth Gunter; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Funeral service will be held Monday at McMikle Funeral Home. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery.
