Ida Mae Allen Samuel Crider was born in Fulton, Kentucky in 1890 to parents Thomas Calvin Allen and Frances "Fanny" Clarke. Her father, Tom Calvin Allen, was a Confederate veteran of the Civil War. Ida married first to Henry "Harry" Willis Samuel, with whom she had a son Robert A Samuel and 2 daughters Emma Lee Samuel and Eulala Samuel (Lerch); then second married to Stephen Linnard Crider. Ida and Linn Crider were the parents of two children together, Augusta Nadine Crider (Harrison)(Taylor)and son Lynn Boyd Crider. Ida and Stephen Linn Crider owned a store and tavern, and for a time ran a boarding house near Lake Wappapello, Missouri, and later resided in Poplar Bluff. Ida died in 1968 at the age of 77 of pneumonia while in a nursing home being treated for dementia & symptoms of cerebral arteriosclerosis.
