OBITUARY :
DAVID E. VALENTINE, 78, of 423 Cleveland Ave. and Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, Pa., died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at the nursing home.

Born Dec. 11, 1926, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Willis Hoover and Mary C. Welty Valentine.

He was a 1944 graduate of Waynesboro High School.

He was employed by Landis Tool Co. in Waynesboro, in the engineering department for 42 years, retiring in 1987.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waynesboro.

He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 731 of Waynesboro and National AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Oadell M. Schilling Valentine, whom he married Jan. 25, 1961; one daughter, Carla A. Myers of Washington, Pa.; one son, D. Scott Valentine of Waynesboro; and one brother, James C. Valentine of Waynesboro.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Lynn D. Trutt will officiate. Burial will be in Burns Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Volunteer Auxiliary, c/o Sis Fox, 969 Stouffer Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17268.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
