Trafton Hillyer Greathouse (also found spelt as Trelton and Trenton) was from Indiana, the son of William R. Greathouse and Nancy Gibson. He was born about 1834 and was residing in Titus County in the 1860 and 1880 Census. He married twice. His first wife was Mary H. McDowell and they were married 16 October 1856 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana. They had three children that grew to adulthood; Susan Elizabeth Greathouse who married Samuel D. Snodgrass, Mary B. Greathouse who married William T. Edwards, and William T. Greathouse of Greenville, Hunt County, Texas who married Mattie Etier. T. H. married second, Harriet Elizabeth Turner. They had three children that I am aware of; Waverly Greathouse of Titus County who married Hattie Reed, Luna T. Greathouse of Salesville, Palo Pinto County, Texas who married Jesse Neil Thompson, and Howe Greathouse of Beumont, Jefferson County, Texas.
Harriet Turner-Greathouse and her daughter Luna are buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto County, Texas.
The monument erected in him and his wife's memory at the Greathouse Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Titus County, Texas is the only known marker still existing.
