THOMASTON — Robert William Henderson Sr., 86, of Old Northfield Road, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Valerie Manor in Torrington. He was the husband to Susan (Krizan) Henderson for 57 years.

Mr. Henderson was born April 17, 1923, in Waterbury, to the late Robert W. and Mabel (Crouch) Henderson. Robert was a graduate of Thomaston High School and the Waterbury School of Business. Most of his career he worked as an accountant for the Stromberg division of Seth Thomas. He went on to work for the State of Connecticut at WCSU, from where he retired.

Bob was a member of the Masonic Temple Lodge No. 96. He was on the Board of Assessors in Thomaston in earlier years. He was also a former member of the Thomaston Fire Volunteer Department and worked alongside his father, who was chief at the time. He was most recently on the Board of Fire Commissioners for Thomaston. Robert was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He found enjoyment in golfing and fishing.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to those that cared for Robert, showing great compassion.

Robert is survived by his wife, Susan; a daughter, Beverly Aubrey and her husband, Blake, of Thomaston; a son, Robert W. Henderson Jr. and his wife, Norma; four grandchildren, Allison, Buddy, Jaclyn and Melanie; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by a brother, Edward Henderson, and a sister, Cydaria Henderson Nacman.

A calling hour will be held Wednesday, March 17, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. A service will be held at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church of Thomaston. Burial will be in the spring at Hillside Cemetery of Thomaston.
