Obituary for Thomas Lyle "Lyle" Parker
Thomas “Lyle” Parker, 91, a resident of The Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown, formerly of Central City, died at the Veteran’s Home, Tuesday, July 21, 2009. Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009, at Center Point Road Church of Christ at Midway by Robert Lukenbill. The family will greet friends 5-8 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City. Military Rites provided by Wapsie Post American Legion #421.

Survivors include his children, Isla (Dwayne) Powell of Central City, Jerry Parker of Marion, and Sandie (Terry) Tull of Center Point; daughter-in-law, Judy Parker; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther; a son, Tom Parker; five brothers; and one sister.

Lyle was born March 11, 1918, in Lenora, Kansas, to William and Florence (Shirck) Parker. He was married to Esther Woods on February 14, 1942, in Imperial, Nebraska. Esther died January 31, 2006. Lyle was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army between 1942 and 1945. He was a District Manager and Dealer for Archer Petroleum for 30 years, retiring in 1980. Lyle was a life member of the Wapsie Post American Legion #421 and a member of the Center Point Road Church of Christ.

A memorial fund has been established in Lyle’s honor.
