A. G. Black Died Here Yesterday
A. G. (Dock) Black, a highly respected citizen and peace officer of the city, died yesterday morning about 7 o'clock at the family residence on West San Antonio street. Mr. Black was just a few days over sixty years of age.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Jones Chapel church at 3 o'clock with Revs. J. C. Cooper and H. B. Daily, officiating. Interment will be made in the Jones Chapel cemetery under direction of R. R. Stribling.
Mr. Black was a life long resident of this section, and was holding the position of Constable of Precinct No. 2 at the time of his death. He was serving his third term in the office.
He is survived by a wife, three sons, Tempie and Whiteman of Alto, and Buel of Lufkin. Three daughters also survive their father, they being Mesdames Arthur Powers and Luther Allen of Alto and Mrs. Horace Treadwell of Lufkin.
In the passing of Mr. Black, Alto and Cherokee County suffer the loss of one of their best citizens. As a peace officer, he was conscientious in the discharge of his duties, and had served his people that he had the highest respect of everyone.
All Alto mourns in the passing of this good citizen, and the heartbroken wife and children have the sincere sympathy of every one in their great hour of bereavement.
