Mrs. H. A. Marchbanks, who lived in Collingsworth County for more than 55 years before moving to Amarillo seven years ago, died there early Tuesday, Sept. 12. She was 85 years old and had been in failing health for more than a year.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Kelso Chapel by the Rev. Leroy Gaston, pastor of First Baptist Church. Burial was in the family plot in West Wellington Cemetery under the direction of Kelso Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Ada Lee Marchbanks came to Collingsworth County in 1903 from Crowell, and for many years she and her family lived in the Needwood community. After her husband's death on March 26, 1956, Mrs. Marchbanks lived in Wellington until she moved to Amarillo. She was a Baptist.
Surviving Mrs. Marchbanks is a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Pugh of Mangum.
Following the death of her only son, Amos Marchbanks, in 1931, she and Mr. Marchbanks reared three grandsons, Curtis Marchbanks, Cleve Marchbanks and Leonard Marchbanks, all of Amarillo. Three other grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren survive.
