Funeral services were held at Immaculate Conception Church in Union for Mrs. Christina Berend at 9 a.m., Monday, Feb. 18, 1957. Mrs Berend died at the St. Louis County Hospital on Friday, Feb. 15.
Mrs. Berend was born at Hermann on July 31, 1863, the daughter of Christ Kotthoff and his wife, Elizabeth, nee Summerfield.
In the year 1882 she was married at Hermann to Frank P. Berend, who died in 1939. They were parents of five children, two of whom died in infancy.
Children aurviving are Thomas J. Berend and Martha Berend of Overland and Theodore Berend of Kansas City, KS. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
